Oprah Winfrey has personally and through her charitable foundations contributed millions in scholarships, with the intention of aiding promising youth on their journey toward success. Education is the key to lifting vulnerable and underserved communities out of poverty, and empowering people to reach their fullest potential.

For over 30 years, the OWCF has worked to provide access to quality education to those who might not have otherwise received the opportunity.

Oprah Winfrey Scholars Program

In 1989, the OWCF started the Oprah Winfrey Scholarship Program at Morehouse College, and has donated over $25 million to help over 600 young men complete their undergraduate studies at this top institution.

Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls

In 2002, Oprah Winfrey broke ground on what would be her lifelong dream: to build an academy of higher learning in South Africa, that would lift girls with huge potential out of their impoverished and difficult circumstances. Today, over 1000 young women are making a difference as OWLAG grads
